What We Do...
The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) provides therapeutic and adaptive sports programs that improve the lives of people with disabilities in Colorado.
In the details...
"My son, Tanner, has been an athlete with the NSCD since 2008. I cannot begin to express the amazing work the NSCD has done for our family. The benefits of the ski program are more than having an AMAZING time. Tanner is building core strength, working on balance and attention span, and socializing with his peers. Tanner has made many new lifelong friends. the horseback riding programs works on core strength and balance as well as fine motor skills and speech. Tanner now says "WOA" and "HEY". This is big, considering we never thought he would speak at all. Tanner's Occupational Therapist told me that as long as Tanner is doing the skiing and horseback riding, he really does not need additional therapy at Children's Hospital. The strength he is building is far more than what they were able to accomplish in an office setting. There is no cure for Tanner's disability, but having an active mind and body supports good health, and a happy, healthy mind." -Mindy
