What We Do...
IFCS provides basic services, such as food, clothing, financial assistance and transitional housing to low-income individuals, families and children.
In the details...
Jenny, a single mother of three elementary school aged children, came to IFCS for assistance with her mortgage. Jenny has a full-time permanent job at an area school where she works for 11 years. She has had to take much time off from her job for many court dates with her children's father, as there is evidence of child abuse in his home. Jenny is trying to get restraining orders and full custody and child support. To add more to Jenny's plate, two weeks ago, she found out that she has brain tumors, and she will be unable to work for a couple of months. She is scheduled to have surgery soon. Jenny received help from IFCS with mortgage assistance, case management, food and clothing for the family, a 10 gift card for gas, recreation passes for her children, prescription assistance after surgery, eyeglasses for the children through IFCS' Gift of Sight Program, referrals to other agencies and follow-up assistance. Jenny was also eligible to register herself for the Mother's Day Program, Ready, Set, School! for her children and also registered for IFCS' Thanksgiving and Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program.
