What We Do...
Hands of The Carpenter (Hands) provide automotive services for single women in need striving to maintain employment, provide for their families, and achieve self-sufficiency.
In the details...
Single women in need come seeking help and Hope with their unreliable vehicles or needing cars in order to maintain employment, care for family members, and achieve self-sufficiency. One of those women was Sally – a single mother with a daughter 19 and a son 12. She left an abusive marriage and for a short time was able to live with extended family members. Eventually, they become homeless and moved to a 30-day shelter and then to Marisol Homes, a Hands referral partner, where they lived and began rebuilding their lives. In 2018 and 2019 Hands’ technicians provided several car repairs until it was determined her Ford Explorer’s repair needs were too extensive. Sally went on the wait list for placement of a donated vehicle. In July she took ownership of a 2001 Toyota Highlander that had been prepared by a partner shop – Dakota Ridge – and in Hands’ shop. She is now able to keep busy working, providing for her children, and building her new life.
